Oh, don’t worry, she is. She loves other dogs. I’m sure she’d be happy to have some friends for the day. [He just gives a knowing nod in return] They do, no matter the weather. I go to ride him three or four days out of the week. And unbearable? Negative ten, maybe fifteen. Any colder than that, you’re getting into being so cold it almost hurts.
Then I’m sure we can arrange something that will be fun. Would Roderich come as well? Or would it be just us. I wouldn’t mind if he did, though I don’t like being the third wheel either. But I guess the dogs could keep me company. *She says it with a chuckle, not being too serious about it* Three or four days? At least that means I’m more likely to come by when you’re there then. *She chuckles again and gives him a light nudge* What? You don’t like risking your nose to frostbite?
Yes, that’s right. I can see my blog on the compter too, just not the dash, activity page, blog page, etc. And yeah, I can see it on mobile.
//facedesks I miss my blog
And you can see all the things on mobile though? That’s so weird. I would wonder if it has to do with your computer, but I can’t imagine what that would be, especially since you can do your other blogs just fine from it, right? And it can’t be your internet, as you obviously can get on other blogs, or use mobile. And I’m sure you couldn’t have accidentally blocked the pages either, as that doesn’t really make sense. Ach, sorry, I’m brainstorming now. I hope it’s something on their end, because then it would be their job to fix it.
*rubs your shoulders gently* I know. It’s a nice, wonderful blog, and you ought to be able to be on it and enjoy it.
lilyintheashes replied to your post:I’m actually very scared right now because Support…*hugs* I hope they’ll fix it soon, and that it won’t happen again, or to others. :c Hopefully it’ll turn out to be a simple fix, once they figure out what they need to fix. That’s the joy of computers, right? You gotta know the problem to fix it. XD
e.e but what if they can’t fix it cries I don’t even know why it is my blog is the way it is and it can’t be anything in the code I’m—
I don’t know, but I still think they can.
You said that you couldn’t see your dash on your computer, right? And you can see your blog on mobile, but not the computer? Or perhaps I misunderstood you. I know I can see your blog through my computer though.
[With a smile he simply disappears into the bathroom, closing the door and beginning to run the water. Double checking that the other wasn’t paying any attention, he takes out his cell and began to dial a number in silently.]
Devon? It’s Ben, I have something to ask of you. Have you attempted to infiltrate any of the locations I was visiting in the last two days?
Um… no, last I checked you returned back in London four hours ago so there wasn’t any telling whether or not you were still there, why?
Well, I’ve run into a bit of trouble.
Don’t tell me you slept with another mafia bosses woman-
You’re getting off topic—
I don’t see how that’s off topic man.
Just listen carefully, I’m certain I’m being followed, are you able to disable any sort of—
…tracking device? Pft, ‘course I can, that’s simple child’s play. Don’t worry about it. [Ben hears a a sudden flurry of rapid typing on a keyboard before Devon speaks again.] Why are you hiding in the bathroom? Wait, there’s someone in the living room with you… Oh, is it that German babe? Wait, that the girl you were talking about that one time or am I just getting it mixed up with another woman?
Devon shut up. [He hisses, trying to keep his voice down all the while stripping out of his clothing so he can set himself into the tub of hot water.] Lily Beilschmidt. I also need you to make sure no one’s tracking her either. Just for safety precautions.
Don’t need to explain ta me chief. I’ll keep your girl out of harms way.
Stop referring to all the women I encounter to be mine.
Have you slept with her yet?
Stop assuming I sleep with every woman I encounter.
So that’s a no. Well then, sounds like the very few women you’ve ever really shagged—
[Ben instantly hangs up and tosses his phone onto the pile of his clothing before turning the water off and dunking himself in for a moment in order to curse before coming back up and gasping for breath.]
Hngh.. sod off ye twat. [mutters]
*Once she hears the water running, she stops paying too much attention to the bathroom. Her eyes scan over the paper, but there’s not much she doesn’t already know, as far as politics go at least, and the rest is local news. Still, it’s something to read, and much nicer than any of the…certain magazines he still has lying around. She becomes somewhat invested in the stories about the upcoming vote over Scotland, and she wonders how that will go, and how England and Scotland, then representations, will react to either outcome. Either way, she hopes it will be the best decision for the people.*
*As the time passes, she moves on to the comic strips, smiling a bit at some of them. Once she’s finished her glass of wine, she’s decided to move over to lay on the couch, and finish reading the paper. She decides to look at the personal ads. She wasn’t interested in the ones about seeking a partner, but the ones that people used to correspond about other thing, sometimes secret things. She wondered why anyone would use this method, as anyone else could see it. Then again, it’s overt nature may have made it covert. Who would want to search the newspapers each day for a secret message? And who would expect it in this type of media, now that the internet ruled the first world.*
*When he came back, she was still immensely in this thought, not even reading the paper anymore, but just staring at it as her mind focused on the question*
Phenex turned his head quietly as he saw the young woman approach. Once she spoke to him, he blinked, and didn’t reply for a moment. This must have been what he was waiting for… Instead he stood up, and clasped both small hands around the considerable size of the book, hefting it up to hold between his arms again with some effort. That done, he finally glanced up at the woman once again with a small smile.
"I- I do!" He replied automatically in German, compared the ancient Egyptian he spoke to himself earlier. He nodded, his eyes glancing over her face hopefully. "I’m looking for someone. But… I’m not sure where they are. Or where I am. Could you… show me?"
As the boy looked at her without answering, she started to wonder if he didn’t speak German. It had made sense to try it first, she thought. A tourist was unlikely to leave their child unattended, and he seemed like he could have been headed to a home or something, but had perhaps taken a wrong turn. She was about to try asking him again in English, when he stood up.
She smiled more at him. He didn’t fully sound German, but maybe he was just from an area she hadn’t been too much. At least he seemed fluent in the language though. “Ah, are you? I suppose I can help. Do you have their name? Maybe their address as well? I know this city well. I’m sure I can help you find them.”
The young boy hummed as he made his way down the street, carrying a rather thick and heavy old tome in his arms. His gaze was fixed upon the concrete floor, skipping over each crack and line in the pavement, careful not to touch any, as any child of his age would. Slowly his humming tapered off, and he slowed in his tracks, glancing left and right.
”Ah… The streets have changed so much… ” He murmured. Nothing looked familiar. It was hard to think about, but he had to admit to himself was quite lost. As he made it to the end of the street, he stopped abruptly at the corner, not sure where to go from there.
"I wonder if I’ll find him, now." He sighed, and dropped the large book in front of him, sitting himself down upon it. For now, Phenex would wait. He had a feeling this spot was important - that luck could strike at any moment.
Lily was returning to her home after making a quick stop at the grocery store before it closed for the evening. Since she knew it would only be a few, light items, she had decided to just walk, and enjoy the cooling air as the sun started to set. She was humming to herself as she turned a corner and started down the pavement.
She was still near the other end, where she had turned, when she saw the boy go up to the corner. She could see he was holding a large book, and it made her smile in amusement. Perhaps he was a bright young boy who loved reading. Or maybe someone had asked him to fetch it. When she saw him sit down, though, she frowned slightly. Was he okay?
She continued walking up towards him, not saying anything until she was right next to him. “Young boy,” she asked (in German, obviously), “are you lost? Do you need some help?” She smiled, in order to make herself appear friendlier.
[Taking up her hand once more, he runs this thumb over the back of it before bringing her hand up to his lips. He certainly didn’t want to lose anyone either, and for him it’s just as difficult as it is for her, regardless of the circumstances of their histories. A plain, human boy and a immortal girl. The combination is taboo, but even so, with the promise he has made her…. she will one day lose him years from now. Maybe not even years from now with how things are going for him. There is no telling how long he has left to draw breath in this world. He’s vulnerable and weak, frail and easily disposable whereas she is not. Romantic, he would think, but tragic.]
You have my word, Lily. I will do everything in my power to uphold it… but there will be the exception, when that dreaded day will come though I hope it shall not… where I must say my goodbyes.
[He gives her hand a gentle squeeze before placing it back onto her lap. Benedict gives her a small smile, shifting in his seat before standing.]
I assume you will not accompany me with the bath then? [He takes a sip of his wine.] The offer still stands if you’d like to of course. [He unbuttons the first three on his dress shirt with a single hand, the other occupied by the wine glass. There’s that charming, condescending grin playing on his lips again before he makes his way toward the bathroom.]
Please, make yourself comfortable while I tend to myself. It will not take long. I will return, that is for sure.
*As he takes her hand, she watches him bring it up to his mouth. His kiss makes a tiny smile play at her own lips, and her fingers curl slightly around his hand and squeeze. The smile is lost as he speaks, however, and she can only nod. She doesn’t want to talk at this moment, for fear her voice might crack. Of course she knows he’ll have to leave someday. She knows there’s almost no chance of him outliving her, unless something forces her to disappear for good in the near future, but that was highly unlikely*
*As he stands up to leave, she manages to chuckle a little* I’m afraid not. Though I’m sure you’ll think of me while you’re in there. Hopefully in a good way though. *She doesn’t mind watching him unbutton his shirt a bit though, and she takes another sip as she does* Do try to not keep me waiting too long. I’ll start to worry that maybe someone left a crocodile in your tub to eat you up or something.
*As he leaves, she reclines a little, slowly finishing off the wine. Why was she doing this to herself? She could leave and save them both a ton of pain. She knew it was wrong to get too attached to a human. He would grow old, or maybe not, but he was going to die eventually. And she would suffer grief. She already felt it. But she didn’t want to miss out on these times either. Now that they were already becoming closer, perhaps it was best to just keep going, and brave the bitter ending when it came.*
*She reached over for the newspaper and started to read it. At least it provided a small distraction*
((*hugs* I hope things start working out soon. Insurance things always sound so…terrifying, honestly.))
((*Hugs and runs away to your house because fuck everything here* Meh, I think now everything is solved. I’ll take the contracts to my college tomorrow and my boss will pay me back and I think it will be it. I hope it will be it. The inssurance was not a problem, all i ahd to do was fill out a form online and pay and that was it, the problem is my boss is so lost with everything. I recognize I’m not top priority on her list but there’s literally 4 people in this company it’s not that hard to keep up with forms and the like jesus christ))
((Oh good, you can help me “pack.” XD And I hope you like ham and potatoes, cause that’s what we’re having tonight.
*pats* I’m glad things seem to be coming together at least. I hate the feeling of when they don’t. But, honestly, it’s your boss’s job to make sure things run smoothly. If she doesn’t take care of her workers, how can she expect them to do well, right? I mean, if you can’t handle the responsibility of being on top of things, you shouldn’t be in that kind of position. Hopefully you won’t have anymore problems like this.))
((If I take forever to respond to something, it’s because I need to force myself to keep packing. Responses are, like, my motivation to keep packing. I can do them after I do ‘x’ portion of my packing. ;; ))
[He watches her carefully, looking thoughtful for a moment. To have asked such a thing from him… Ah, can he really afford hurting her? Or worse, make such a promise and break it. It’s better if they weren’t getting any closer than they are now, it would be nice to have a friend of course, but he needed to give up such a thing to ensure safety of the people he’s surrounded himself with.]
[Running a hand through his unkempt hair, he sighs, swirling the liquid within his glass. He has to look into her eyes though, knowing fully that breaking contact is an instant “No.” Benedict somehow loses all will to even reject her. This woman… definitely had him loosely wrapped around her finger (in a way).]
To request such a thing from a man you barely even know… Strikes me as completely out of the ordinary. [It makes sense. Why would she care about someone she’s only interacted with flirtatiously? Has he not made it clear enough he could not let his heart be exposed with such a job?] I can promise you that I will not distance myself, but that would be a lie.
[He certainly can’t lie to her, can he? His expression turns serious though.] I will promise you that I will not distance myself, only if you agree to cease your curiosity in regards to my whereabouts and my works when I tell you. It is classified for a reason my dear, and I do not wish for you to get involved whenever I can prevent it.
*He’s not answering, and he’s also fidgeting. Perhaps she shouldn’t have asked. What if he does say no? What if he asks her to leave right now, and never come back? Maybe if he knew that she wouldn’t be in as much danger as he thinks, things would be different. Maybe he’d even be more open about things. But that would mean she would have to be too. And she doesn’t want to risk him turning away because of her past. Won’t he have to find out eventually though? He’ll start to notice she doesn’t age, and that she doesn’t stay injured for too long. Questions will come…what if he hates her for hiding it for so long?*
*She keeps her eyes on him until he’s done speaking. Then, she looks into her wine once again, swirling it lightly so she can simply watch it turn round in the glass. Of course he’ll have to ask her to stay out of things. She doesn’t want to though. Not just out of simple curiosity, but from a desire to know things, a desire that was practically molded into her when the Stasi was formed. Not knowing things wasn’t acceptable. And if people had secrets you didn’t know, it could become dangerous…But this wasn’t the Cold War anymore. And he wasn’t an enemy spy, or a possible defector. He was a young, British man who investigated things for others. His work depended on trust, and being careful with it. And the last thing she wants is to cause real problems for him.*
*She sighs and sips the wine, still staring at it when she’s done.* I know it is odd to ask, but I enjoy your company and…I…and I find that we might be good friends. I wouldn’t want to lose that opportunity so quickly. I’ll agree to your terms, then. Perhaps, someday, things might be a bit different.
As the sunlight peeked into the room and touched her eyes, Lily groaned and shifted. She felt strange, like she was stretched out, and she had a slight headache. As she blinked open her eyes, she frowned to herself. Her alarm hadn’t gone off, and her pets hadn’t come to wake her either. In fact, her surroundings seemed too quiet. Worried, she sat up, about to call out for one of her dogs. She stopped though. This wasn’t her bedroom. This was…this was Raum’s. But how? She knew for certain she hadn’t gotten that drunk last night. She only had two beers, and she could distinctly remember making it home, safe and sound. And Raum had gone to his home.
She stood up and ran a hand through her hair. That was when she paused. Not only was she higher up from the ground, but her hair was…short. And she was missing her bangs. Her eyes widened, and she rushed to the bathroom to look in the mirror. As she saw his face staring back at hers, she screamed. Her scream was cut short when she found that her voice was, well, his. She rubbed her throat, watching as the reflection mimicked her. How could this have happened? Was there a greyface involved? She didn’t recall any, but that didn’t make it impossible. They could have made her forget the event when they did it.
She took a few deep breaths and calmed herself. If she was in his body, Raum might be in hers. She searched for his phone and then dialed her number. Her alarm would have gone off an hour ago, and her pets would be anxious for food and walks as well, so perhaps he was already up. If not, she was sure he was about to be wide awake.
